Your baby’s brain begins to develop from the beginning of your pregnancy and between the sixth week and fifth month; it grows about a hundred billion cells. So you need to eat for that too. There are certain brain builders in the food items that you may consume and read about in our site. Apart from this here are some smart steps you can take to further improve upon the development of your child’s brains.
• Do not forget your prenatal vitamins.
• Munch on fruits and veggies.

These contain anti oxidants which will prevent any kind of brain damage and aid in its growth. Take at least 7 servings of fruits and veggies everyday and preferably for deep colored ones like plums, strawberries, dark green leafy vegetables, or tomatoes and do not forget to wash them very well before use.

• Avoid alcohol and smoking
• Pump up your iron intake
• Get omega 3 in your diet
For this you take fish, fish oil, broccoli, spinach and cabbage.

• Be mindful of mercury

Potty training is a process that all parents are keen to start as soon as possible. But then remember that there is a time for everything that your child can learn and wants to learn.

Usually what most parents notice is that at the age of 4-5 months itself, the child responds to peeing in a potty when made to sit there. What you have to realize is that it is only a reflex that your child has learnt.
At the age of 4-5 months and till 2-21/2 years, your child may respond to peeing in a potty, but it is a mere reflex action and not a learnt behavior. This may not be consistent and then you start wondering what happened to your child who had been potty trained.
The ideal time to potty train your child is after 2 years when he starts keeping his toys away in its place. Once the concept that each thing has its own place develops in his mind, it becomes easy to teach him that there is a place for peeing also.

Without any efforts and happily your child will comply with you. There might be other things that might hamper this training like chronic constipation, fear of darkness or sometimes even the ‘flush’ in the toilet is scary for them.
So if your child is showing too much resistance, try to know the cause or leave him alone for few more months till he gets over the fear. AND DO NOT TRY TO POTTY TRAIN YOUR CHILD BEFORE TIME.

Here are a few tips to know when to potty train

• Your child starts showing an interest in the potty process. For instance, he follows you; he follows you into the bathroom.
• He wants you to change him after pooping.
• You can make out from his gestures or facial expressions or he tells you that he is about to go.
• You must find time to be with him when he is on the potty and wait till he decides that he is finished and playing can be continued elsewhere also.
• When there is no major event going on in the house and you two can make it an exciting game.
